At HBJ, I manage our Strategies section, which is a mix of contributor-, freelance- and staff-written pieces. One of our types of stories is called “How I.” For these stories, the writer interviews the subject, gets inside their brain and tells their story from their perspective. It’s one of the most difficult things to write, and I loved them. The key to success is all in the interview — you have to know everything about the subject’s life and business career and why they make the decisions they do. Here are some of my favorites, all linked to the stories.
